NWSC-MD ENGAGES WITH MASINDI AREA LOCAL LEADERSHIP

In leadership, the saying goes, “Fish starts to rot from its head,” a depiction of the role leadership plays in the success or failure of any institution. However, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation’s (NWSC) Managing Director, Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha ‘s result-oriented approach has ushered in numerous success stories and significant milestones over the years.

Recently, Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha, set out on a routine visit to the Masindi Area, departing from the Hoima region with the aim of addressing staff and engaging with local leadership, sharing ideologies and charting a course for progress. Accompanying him was an advance team led by Director of Public Relations and Communications, Mr. Samuel Apedel, and Senior Manager Human Resources-Central Region, Mr. Rahim Apelima, who interacted with the area staff, shedding light on HR perspectives and addressing concerns.

Representing the local authority were notable figures including; RDC-Mr. Emmy Ngabirano, District Chairperson-Mr. Byaruhanga Cosmas, DISO- Mr. David Mugabe, District Speaker-Mr. Kirya Denis, and DPC SP-Jacob Chepskol.

During his address, Dr. Eng. Mugisha emphasized the importance of leveraging pain points as catalysts for business growth. He stressed the need for expansion and improvement, particularly in town councils lacking adequate water supply, aligning with NWSC’s mantra of ‘Water for all.’ Expressing his commitment, he urged the area manager to collaborate closely with local leadership to extend services to other town councils.

Addressing concerns of fraudulent behavior among staff, he advocated for ethical practices in addressing Non-Revenue Water (NRW) and called for joint efforts between NWSC and security officers to combat illegal water use. Dr. Mugisha further highlighted the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the need for increased revenue collection and cost containment to mitigate its financial burden.

In fostering industrial growth, the NWSC boss pledged unwavering support for the expansion and development of sewerage services through a centralized approach, projecting NWSC’s dedication to holistic development.

Reflecting on the engagement, the local leadership expressed gratitude to NWSC for initiating dialogue and collaboration, acknowledging the corporation’s significant role in community development. They commended the area manager and staff for their dedication and achievements, while also advocating for increased water supply to areas beyond NWSC’s jurisdiction, signaling their commitment to the collective advancement of the region.

Through collaboration and shared vision, all the aforementioned parties are bound to pave the way for a future where access to clean water and sanitation is not just a privilege but a fundamental right for all.
