KAMPALA WATER TEAMS UP WITH AYIITA CHARITY FOUNDATION IN CHARITY CAMPAIGN

Kampala Water, in collaboration with Ayiita Charity Foundation donated food to families in Kinwanyi zone, Katanga-Wandegeya, as part of a community outreach program to feed the underprivileged during this Ramadan season. 

Ayiita Charity Foundation is a non-profit organization that focuses on empowering vulnerable groups, such as orphans, persons with disabilities, unemployed youth, and women, through programs such as Orphan Welfare, Clean Water for All, and Community Welfare. 

The founder of Ayiita Charity Foundation, Ms. Sophie Nyanzi expressed gratitude to Kampala Water for their partnership, noting that this collaboration marks the beginning of many more joint efforts.

The local leadership of Kimwanyi zone, together with Sheikh Ahmad Mutyaba, acknowledged Kampala Water and Ayiita foundation for their generous donation to the community. 

The locals did how ever highlighted the need for improved water supply as some residents are still relying on unclean water sources. The inadequate sewerage disposal system was also noted as a challenge to the community. Poverty was identified as a major factor hindering access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities, and they expressed hope for more interventions such as; Public StandPipes (PSPs).

An entourage from Kampala Water comprised of; the Senior Manager KEZ-Sarah Namuwenge, MPR-Vivien Newumbe, Manager City Center-Edith Nabagereka, Manager Urban Pro Poor-Siraggi Basajja, Sub Branch Manager Kamwokya-Grace Namukwaaya, and other staff attended the community outreach program. 

They engaged in discussions about sanitation-related issues affecting the area, and identified areas that could benefit from PSPs. 

A total of 100 packs of food were distributed to 100 families. Kimwanyi zone being an informal settlement with a significant portion of residents living in poverty, this initiative has made a tangible impact on the lives of the beneficiaries. 

This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) not only helps to address the immediate needs of the community but also aligns with the mission of NWSC and its stakeholders to make impactful interventions.
