KW’S WALOPU EARMARKS 11 CASES WORTH 62.5 MILLION FOR PROSECUTION

Kampala Water’s “Water Loss Prevention Unit (WALOPU) is an essential part of the region’s business growth. The unit’s primary purpose is to identify and minimize water losses, especially those affiliated to “Water Theft” and vandalism of corporation property. This in turn helps to improve the overall efficiency of the system and reduce losses.

The WALOPU team has been significantly providing valuable information and insights that can be used by the legal department to recover lost revenue in and outside the courtroom. Reportedly, WALOPU has earmarked approximately 11 Cases Worth UGX62.5 Million for prosecution.

In a meeting held between the Senior Legal officer, Ms. Brownie Ebal and Principle Engineer-WALOPU, Eng. Francis Omara, the duo discussed a way forward for the aforementioned 11 cases and the conclusion was to have them forwarded for approval from the Ag. Senior Manager Non-Revenue Water, Eng. Freda Bugenyi who affirmed that the cases would eventually qualify for a court hearing as the amount in question was such a big sum to have it handled causally.

The WALOPU team continues to re-define resilience and dedication.
