THE WORLD BANK FUNDED PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN NWSC AND OTHER PARTNERS KICKS OFF TO PROVIDE FULL SCALE SOURCE PROTECTION SERVICES IN GULU

Consultancy services for full scale source protection services in Gulu kicked off on 16th June 2022. The water source protection initiative funded by the World Bank and being implemented by National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) presents identified activities/interventions needed to mitigate existing and future threats to Oyitino dam and improve the resilience of the source.

The main objective of this project is to improve water quality and achieve reliable water quantities at Oyitino dam. The implementing partners, comprising a team from Aid Environment paid a courtesy call on the Area Manager and the RCC Gulu. This visit forms part of the efforts to engage more stakeholders and relevant actors in enhancing efficient delivery of projects.

Notably, the contract by which NWSC and Aid Environment in association with Amref Health Africa Uganda and Heifer International Uganda has commenced works on the project, was signed in Kampala on 2nd June 2022.

The Area Manager-Gulu, Mr. Stephen Gang, indicated his happiness with the idea to protect Oyitino water source and pledged that together, he and his team will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the project is successful. 

The Deputy RCC, Mr. Gilbert Okwi representing the RCC, also committed to effective collaboration with the consultants and NWSC in meritoriously implementing the project.
