NWSC ASSESSES NYAMUKAMA TOWN COUNCIL PRIOR TO TAKEOVER

A team from the National Water and Sewerage Corporation’s Ntugamo Area, Championed by the Area Manager, made its way to Nyamukana Town Council to evaluate the water supply reliabilty and quality and to get conversant with water production as the Area plans to take over the town council.

During the ground tour, the NWSC team discovered that; Nyamukana Town Counsil is served by Kinyamufura GFS source located in Kinyamufura village, Rwampara district. The Scheme is GFS of Q=18m3/hr, the -Transmission pipe is GI pipes of 3″ to the a 3m3 circular collection tank, the collection tank transmits water to three (3) circular tanks, each 15m3 of 3″ and, 2 ” PE pipes.

The team also found out that; the tanks serve the parts Rwampara district and then transmits water to 2 circular tanks of @15m3 which then serve Nyamukana Town Council. The source and tanks are in need of rehabilitation and fencing to protect them from encroachment and, the whole system is in metered and it serves a bigger population.

Notably, a number of water samples were taken for quality analysis and, due diligence will be done at a later date.
