The National Water and Sewerage Corporation-Lyantonde Area, hosted the State Minister for Water & Environment and, District Woman Member of Parliament for Kalungu, Hon. Aisha Sekindi who was left very astonished and impressed by the strong rapport between the NWSC team and local leaders let alone, other stakeholders.

Warmly received at NWSC office by the Senior Manager Operations-Western Region, Eng. Edmond Okaronon, the Area Manager Mr. Andrew Ahumuza, and Eng. Francis Kateeba-GM Mbarara, the Minister had a brief meeting with NWSC staff and Lyantonde district leadership at Court Yard hotel after which, she was treated to a tour of some of the Area’s installations namely; the raw water intake at Kakyeera Swamp, the treatment plant and the site for the new water treatment plant on Lake Kakyeera in Kirihuura district.

It was during the field visits that Hon. Sekindi noticed the mutual respect and understanding that loomed over NWSC and its key stakeholders. She called upon NWSC to utilize the opportunity and reach out to as many of its customers as possible especially those that may be affected by the establishment of the new treatment plant on Lake Kakyeera.

Hon. Sekindi also planted trees at all the three sites she visited and crowned the day with a Radio talk show on Kaaro Radio where she responded to various issues regarding water expansion in the Area and progress of the “Lyantonde water supply project”.
