National Water and Sewerage Corporation’s Hoima Area Office while working with detectives from the Uganda Police Force, arrested a suspect linked to the theft of five (5) water meters.
Upon further questioning, the suspect led both NWSC and Uganda Police to a scrap dealer in Hoima town. Here, the NWSC recovered 10’s of meters.
It is believed that the scrap dealers smelt the meters and use the precious coating on them for fabrication works.
NWSC therefore urges the public to report any suspected meter theft cases at the nearest Police Station or contact the nearest NWSC Office.
