Against the backdrop of strong suspicion of meter tampering by owners of washing bays in Mbarara, the NWSC Area team, with guidance from the General Manager – Eng. Kateeba Francis has embarked on undertaking replacement of all their meters and deploying tamper proof protection.

The tamper proof protection is being achieved by protecting the meter within a metallic box and sealing it. The exercise which commenced in the branches of Nyamitanga, Ruharo, Kakoba, Koranorya, Ruti and City Center and will upscale to all the branches in due course.

To guarantee proper dissemination of information regarding the exercise, the meters are being installed in the presence of the owners, and a letter of concern and notification is being issued to the owners.

This will intensely check on the meter tampering at washing bays, and result into downhill in Non-
Revenue Water due to water theft in the Area.
