Following a request by The Uganda Police that additional metered PSPs be installed in the barracks, NWSC has begun laying a distribution pipe network and installation of PSPs at all selected locations within the barracks.

NWSC and Uganda Police have agreed to the installation of ten (10) 10,000-litre tanks and 54 Public Stand Points (PSPs) in Nsambya, Ntinda, Kibuli, Kireka and Naguru barracks who record a population of approximately 10,000 people and 6000 residences.

Notably, these communities have for a long time sought after alternative water sources or walked long distances to access water. Now, NWSC will cater to their convenience as the
corporation is already trenching and pipe laying. Trenching and pipe laying works in Naguru and Nsambya barracks have however been completed.

Construction of tank bases in Naguru barracks has been completed while in Nsambya barracks, construction is in the final stages. Construction of PSPs in Naguru and Nsambya is ongoing and pipe works has started in all other barracks.

The project will be complete by 13 th August 2021 and handed over to the Uganda Police Force Management whose task will be management and maintenance of the PSPs and laid pipework.
