Vambeco Enterprises, a prominent construction company in Uganda, is making significant strides in its commitment to enhance access to clean water in the “Dry-Zone” parts of Nansana. In partnership with the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), the company’s ongoing efforts aim to stabilize water supply for the residents of Ssenge and surrounding areas.
Yesterday, June 20th, 2024, the Vambeco team laid 600 meters of DN150 pipes and trenched an additional 800 meters to stabilize the water supply from the Nansana Municipal tank reservoir to Ssenge. The project, fully funded by Vambeco, is overseen by Eng. Brenda Kobugabe, the NWSC-Kampala Water’s Network Engineer, and the Nansana Branch team, led by Branch Manager Ms. Sarah Lyavala.
Despite encountering challenges related to route access, the Nansana branch team successfully negotiated with local residents, securing permission to traverse their properties, and that way ensured continuity of the work, especially with the recent reinstatement of properties damaged during trench excavations which provided much-needed relief to the affected residents.
The project extends from Kye-wamala, along Naluvule-Ssenge Road, reaching up to Ssenge Corner House, where a crucial interconnection will enhance water supply. This development is expected to resolve the intermittent water supply issues plaguing Ssenge, Kidawalime, and parts of Kasengejje, significantly improving the quality of life for thousands of residents.
Notably, the NWSC team intends on charging the line next week and assess effectiveness of work done so far.
