The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Kampala Water Management led by the General Manager Kampala, Mahmood Lutaaya held a meeting with the Bulk Water Suppliers.

Bulk water suppliers are an NWSC customer category that operates mainly for the purpose of supplying water to water bowser/truck operators. There are 18 bulk water suppliers in Kampala and these have proved major players in ensuring customers in water stressed areas are availed temporary relief as and when the need arises. On many occasions, bulk water suppliers have risen to the occasion and supplied water to bowser operators that supply clean treated water to NWSC customers that are unable to access NWSC services in real time.

While these suppliers have been very key in growing water sales, they have also lately been notorious for aiding water theft. It is upon this premise that the Kampala water management team engaged the suppliers to address the challenges of increased water theft in Kampala.

The General Manager NWSC, Mahmood Lutaaya in his remarks appreciated the bulk water suppliers for serving the public on behalf of NWSC. He committed to having regular engagements with the suppliers as a means of addressing any operational challenges and growing business for both parties. “You are our partners. When you serve other customers with Water, you are serving our nation and fulfilling the objective of our existence.”

The meeting was concluded by awarding of certificates to the best performing bulk water sellers. The GM-KW committed on behalf of management to offer support and recognise best performing bulk sellers going forward.
