Sembabule District recently played host to a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Ministry of Water, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), and supported by funding from the Indian Exim Bank. This initiative, launched in partnership with the Project contractor, Shakti Engineering Co. of India, is a significant development aimed at enhancing water access and availability, while addressing the pressing need for improved water infrastructure in Mawogola North.
The event, attended by key figures including the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), the Local Council V (LCV) chairperson, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and the Member of Parliament for Mawogola North, Shartis Kutesa Musherure, witnessed the unveil the ambitious plans set in motion. Representatives from NWSC, led by the Area Manager and Area Engineer, were also present, reaffirming their commitment to supporting the technical aspects of the project.
Central to the initiative are several significant undertakings poised to revolutionize water supply in the region. Among these are the construction of two booster stations, each equipped with solar power capabilities, aimed at bolstering water distribution efficiency. Additionally, the project encompasses the establishment of two 100m3 reservoirs, strategically positioned to optimize water storage and management.
Highlighting the comprehensive nature of the endeavor, plans also include the laying of over 100 kilometers of pipeline network, comprising various sizes tailored to meet the diverse needs of the community. These pipelines will be seamlessly integrated with existing NWSC infrastructure, ensuring a cohesive and sustainable water supply network.
Crucially, the success of such initiatives hinges on collaborative efforts and community involvement. In this regard, commendable strides have been made, with beneficiary communities generously offering land at no cost to facilitate the commencement of construction activities. Such proactive engagement underscores the collective commitment towards achieving tangible outcomes and fostering lasting change.
Ultimately, the overarching objective of this endeavor is to achieve 100% coverage of portable water supply in Mawogola North.
