In a strategic move to fortify the integrity of Kampala Water’s (KW) pipe-infrastructure, the Water Supply Department has embarked on a comprehensive initiative aimed at reducing Non-Revenue Water (NRW) by 10%.
Led by Eng. Francis Kateeba, the senior manager of Water Supply, and supported by the proficient Network Team, including Mr. Moses Nandigobe and Mr. Bruno Musimenta, took a thorough inspection amidst the bustling activities of road and channel construction in the city. The focal point of attention was the ongoing works at the Kitalanga channel, Bunga Soya swamp.
The primary objective of the inspection was to ensure the preservation of the corporation’s pipe network, specifically the DN800 and DN200, passing through the Kitalanga channel. The team collaborated on innovative strategies, such as reinforcing anchors and implementing concrete structures around the pipe stands. These measures are designed to protect the pipes from potential damage, preventing water supply interruption, and mitigating health threats in the surrounding communities.
The inspection also featured a commitment from Mr. Godfrey Muguzi, the supervisor from the contracted company, Stirling, to uphold the integrity of KW pipes. Both teams pledged to deliver exceptional services to the community, solidifying their commitment through the exchange of contracts.
