The Government of Uganda through National Water & Sewerage Corporation has completed construction of the new Katosi Water Works aimed to benefit over 4.5 million Ugandans in the greater Kampala Metropolitan area.
The project whose objective is to ensure zero supply interruption in Kampala comprises of two reservoirs, Nsumba and Sonde with a 40Million liters;’ capacity and 15 Million liters’ capacity respectively. Impressively, the plant’s capacity stands at 160 Million liters per day.
The team is now testing the new 55km DN1400mm Katosi-Kampala bulk transmission main that is evacuating water from the plant in Katosi to various water reservoirs in Kampala.
Landscaping, road works and other final touches are ongoing in the water complex.
