Chances of waking up to a gurgling and spurting sound of water issuing from vandalized water pipes are worryingly high in Tororo, as thieves have developed a new- found appetite for water meters.

With total awareness of the vice, the National Water and Sewerage team in Tororo headed by the Security officer, Mr. Herbert Okodi accompanied by Mr. Osweri Ronald Kenneth and Mr. Asire Eric obtained information that confirmed scrap dealers to be behind the act of stealing water meters.

The Area’s Security operatives were then engaged to perform an in-depth search of the different scrap outlets to which end; several water meter parts were found and three Scrap dealers were arrested.

After a thorough investigation and culprits proven guilty, they are to be charged with the offenses of stealing and causing damage to government property.

NWSC Tororo through the leadership of the Area Manager, Mr. Fred Businge has continued to fight the vice through; continuous engagement of a number of security agencies to investigate the crime incidents, radio and social media announcements to inform its beloved customers to be vigilant and report such incidents to police and night patrols to ensure the vice is no more.

NWSC customers are encouraged to detest from getting involved in such behavior as the corporation remains committed to Water for All.
