In a proactive move to enhance collaboration and strengthen stakeholder engagement, Mr. Daniel Mugoya, the Area Manager Luweero-National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), along with the Area Engineer and Union Chairperson, recently met with key district officials thus; the rendezvous included discussions with the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Bwabye Richard; Deputy Chief Administration Officer (D-CAO), Mr. Yiga Martin Paul; and the District Water Engineer (DWE), Mr. Kanyike Joseph.
The primary objective of this strategic gathering was to establish a robust working relationship between NWSC Luweero and the district authorities. The District officials wasted no time in promptly presenting their water-related concerns upon welcoming Mr. Mugoya and his team.
Mr. Mugoya provided a comprehensive overview of ongoing projects aimed at resolving water scarcity issues. Additionally, he shed light on ambitious long-term initiatives, including the bulk water transfer projects from Nakasongola and Katosi. These projects, branching from both Matuga and Gayaza roads, are set to cater to the water needs of Luweero, Bombo, and Zirobwe.
Expressing solidarity, the District Water Engineer (DWE) emphasized the importance of NWSC’s involvement in the district water committee Advocacy and planning meetings, which convene quarterly. This commitment ensures a continuous and coordinated effort to address water-related challenges in the region.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) proposed a valuable avenue for community outreach after he suggested granting NWSC airtime on local radio stations to engage with the community directly, an initiative scheduled to kick off next week, promising an effective platform for disseminating information about water-related matters.
In a symbolic gesture, the Area Manager concluded the meeting by presenting New Year calendars which were graciously received by both the RDC and the Deputy CAO.
Through ongoing dialogue and proactive measures, this partnership is poised to make a significant impact on addressing the water challenges faced by the residents of Luweero and surrounding areas.
