The Rotary Club-Uganda has made significant contributions to improving access to clean water and sanitation facilities in the country, which initiatives have helped to reduce water-borne diseases, improve the health of communities, and enhance the quality of life for thousands of people in Uganda.
So when invited to the Rotary-Wakiso Fellowship, the Kampala Water Wakiso Branch immediately jumped on the opportunity to interact with one of the country’s biggest philanthropists.
During said meeting, the presiding president pledged to have a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Rotary-Wakiso and Kampala Water to aid in monitoring the COVID-tanks as well as the Public StandPipes (PSPs) within the community.
This was as a result of a request made by the KW-Branch Manager Mukono, Mr. Daniel Mugoya who was also in attendance, to partner up with NWSC for future projects so as to improve the welfare of the community. He in particular encouraged community policing from the side of the Rotary club members especially when it comes to unfair pricing from PSPs within their communities, and encouraged the Rotarians to participate in NWSC’s fight against NRW by reporting leaks/bursts whenever possible.
The invite to KW-Wakiso was affiliated to the philanthropists’ theme of the Month; “Water and Sanitation” which the KW Teams took advantage of to discuss digitization of the corporation’s services for the customer’s convenience thus; E-Application for New connection and E-Billing.
Notably, a partnership with Rotary goes a long way in aiding KW’s business growth in more ways than one for instance; clean water initiatives, sanitation projects, sensitization/awareness campaigns, and collaborative efforts capital with the likes of UNICEF and other significant NGOs.
