PRESIDENT MUSEVENI COMMENDS NWSC FOR REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENTS AT THE 2ND NATIONAL ICT JOB FAIR 2023

H.E. The President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, presided over the 2nd Annual National ICT Job Fair 2023 at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. During the event, he praised the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), led by Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha, for their outstanding performance. 

The two-day informative Expo was attended by various ministries, member bodies, and private sector representatives. Its primary objective was to navigate the path of digital transformation, with a focus on expanded employment opportunities, enhanced employer branding and recruitment, networking and industry collaboration, skill development and empowerment, and measurable impact and continuous improvement, all of which NWSC holds a candle to.

The National Water & Sewerage Corporation was well-represented at the exhibition by a dedicated team from Public Relations, Human Resources, and the Training Department. Their outstanding performance marked the successful conclusion of the first day of the exhibition.

Key members of the NWSC team included; Senior Manager-Human Resources Edison Muzahura, Manager-Public Relations Sheba Bamwine, Principal-Human Resources Phiona Niwamanya, Principal Trainer David Opoka, Senior PRO Cream Treasure Ninsiima, and Human Resources Officer Bridget Kisakye.

This team showcased professionalism and teamwork, efficiently addressing customer concerns, inquiries, feedback, and responses with confidence and speed as they shed light on the diverse career growth opportunities within the corporation, such as internship and graduate training programs, as well as internally and externally advertised job openings. Additionally, they highlighted the Vocational Skills Development facility (VSDF) within the corporation, aimed at enhancing the skills of staff to help them attain certifications and diplomas in their respective fields.

H.E. The President emphasized that the digital realm excels in speed, efficiency, and traceability, making it a key driver in the digitization of government processes. This digitization supports self-reliance and addresses fundamental human needs. He further pledged his support to the Information and Communications Technology sector, recognizing its potential to enhance the quality of human life.

Notably, the job fair is expected to offer more than 10,000 training, internship, and job opportunities to the unemployed sector, as highlighted by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology & National Guidance.

The day concluded with numerous visitors from various backgrounds, all seeking employment, internship, and volunteering opportunities within the corporation. Others sought solutions to their water and sewerage-related challenges and concerns. This event served as a platform for progress, innovation, and collaboration, further underlining the significance of the ICT sector in Uganda’s development.
