Kampala, December 7, 2022 – In response to the escalating demand for water triggered by population growth, rapid urbanization, and the rise of industries, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has launched a series of impactful projects to revitalize water supply in the Kampala Metropolitan Area.

These initiatives demonstrate the corporation’s unwavering dedication to community well-being, ensuring the reliability of water distribution for the people.

Among the notable projects is the Centenary Park initiative. Spanning 3.7 km from Garden City to Public Service, the project involved the installation of DN350 pipes. The Kampala water team has now shifted its focus to the connection works of DN600x350, a crucial step in establishing a dedicated water supply for Hoima Road off Bombo Road.

Led by the Senior Manager Water Supply, Eng Francis Kateeba, the dedicated team, in collaboration with the proficient network team and JSG Construction Company Limited, has applied collective expertise to ensure the seamless commissioning of this vital project. The day commenced with meticulous connection works and thorough fittings checks, all aimed at optimizing the utilization of this significant undertaking.

Successful testing of this project is expected to revolutionize water supply in several beneficiary areas, including Nakulabye, Masanafu, Namungoona, Kasubi, Nansana, and the service areas of Yesu Amala, Kyebando, Kabumbi, Katooke, parts of Kibwa, and surrounding locales.

The positive impact of this strategic initiative looms on the horizon for these communities, marking a transformative milestone in ensuring sustainable water access.
