Access to clean and safe water is a fundamental human need. When communities are compelled to rely on polluted or unsafe water sources, it can have severe health and economic repercussions.
Here is a “for-instance”; Back in the early 2000s, residents in Kyengera, Nakimesse, and neighboring areas faced the daunting challenge of water scarcity, leading them to collect water from unsanitary wells and ponds. This situation posed significant health risks.
However, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) stepped up to address these water supply challenges. The corporation took substantial steps to enhance the water infrastructure, including upgrading the Wankulukuku booster and installing a transformer at the Budo booster. These infrastructure improvements significantly alleviated water shortages in these areas.
Today, as the corporation grows its customer base while enhancing water and sanitation services in Uganda, it holds a place in the hearts of millions.
A good example is the 2023 International Trade Fair, which witnessed NWSC take the opportunity to directly engage with customers, gather feedback, and showcase its services and initiatives. This engagement provided invaluable insights from customers about their experiences and garnered gratitude for the improvements in water supply and customer service.
Among the thousands who interacted with NWSC’s team, Mr. Michael Kikaawa’s genuine smile and expressions of gratitude at the NWSC stall at the UMA trade show grounds spoke volumes. He recounted the challenging times when he had to travel long distances to fetch water from contaminated sources and highlighted the health and financial burdens associated with poor sanitation and hygiene. His story depicts the essential role of reliable and clean water services, noting that he now receives water on a daily basis.

His appreciation for the improvements in water supply, as well as the convenience in bill payment methods, stands as evidence of NWSC’s unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction.
