NWSC TO INCREASE FOOTPRINT IN NKOOKO, MPASAANA, AND KISIITA TOWN COUNCILS

The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) plans to increase its urban footprint by taking over more towns, in line with its corporate objective of ensuring “Water for All”.
 
The corporation recently carried out due diligence of Kooko, Mpasaana, and Kisiita towns in Kakumiro Area, which it will soon take over the operation of the water supply systems for. 
 
At Nkooko, the Team was welcomed by and had extended engagements with the Town Councils Leaders. The Town Clerk Nkooko Town Council, in particular, could not hold his excitement as he welcomed NWSC into the Area. He intimated that their request to have the Town Council gazzetted to NWSC was compelled by their desire for reliable and safe water supply services. He affirmed that Nkooko Town Council is water stressed, with the Town going without water for several days. 
 
The Deputy Mayor, Namaganda Margaret, expressed optimism about NWSC’s takeover, citing the many success stories they have witnessed from the other Towns where NWSC operates. They pledged to support NWSC in all ways as it plans to extend and expand water supply services in the Town. 
 
In the same veil, the Town Clerk Mpasaana Town Council, and his delegation welcomed the NWSC Team to the Area. 
The Council Leaders affirmed that with the entry of NWSC, they were confident that water supply services in Mpasaana TC were bound to improve tremendously. 
 
The local leaders reaffirmed their commitment to have the local communities engaged and sensitized, inorder to ease and facilitate NWSC’s smooth entry and service expansion. 
 
Mr. Mbanga Elly, the Town Clerk Kisiita Town Council, while welcoming the NWSC Team, affirmed that water has been one of the Town’s biggest problems.
 
The NWSC team assessed the existing water supply infrastructure and held discussions with local leaders who welcomed the takeover, citing challenges such as unreliable and dirty water, as well as the benefits of improved water supply services for the community.
 
NWSC on its part, through the Area Manager Kakumiro, Mr. Godfrey, thanked the respective leaders from each of the Town Councils’.
 
He affirmed that with the systems’ assessed, and the areas that need improvement properly documented, the Corporation is going to formulate a water supply improvement strategy for the three towns. “Our madate is to provide clean and safe water to the people of Uganda. We therefore  promise to serve u deligently”, he pledged.
