Public Stand Pipes (PSPs) are essential in catering to customers who can’t afford domestic connections usually those in informal settings. They are important in supporting service delivery and fueling the agenda for ‘water for all’ let alone growing sales for NWSC. Monitoring their operations is equally important lest prices are increased discouraging customers from using the service and the risk of meter theft.
PSP operators from Ganda, Bujuuko and Kyebando were hosted in Nansana Branch to discuss a number of issues, some of which include:
The status quo of the taps, protection against meter theft since replacement comes at a cost, proper brand representation by the operators, maintaining the official selling price of UGX50 per jerican, Prompt clearing of bills to avoid accumulation of arrears.
The operators decried inconsistency in water supply, which will be addressed by the Katosi project.
With about 14 PSPs in Nansana Branch, the team is set to ensure water for all and that way, achieve customer delight.
