During an engagement with Vitens Evides International (VEI) on in Amsterdam, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) was presented with an award of best Asset Management Solutions.
The award follows a signed partnership Agreement between NWSC and Dutch Water Operators – Vitens Evides International (VEI) Netherlands in 2018, to engage in a Water Operators’ Partnership (WOP) designed under the WaterWorx program, an International Water Operators’ Cooperation program that brings together over 39 water utilities from 15 countries across the globe with a sole purpose of improving water and sanitation services to over 10 million people by 2030.
NWSC represented by the MD – Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha, Director Business and Scientific Services – Dr. Rose Kaggwa and the Kampala Water GM – Mahmood Lutaaya presented the collaborative role of the Water Worx programme in the development of Mapkit tool in Kampala Water to a group of CEOs from different utilities.
During the engagement, the NWSC Mananging Director, Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha shared the different Asset Management practices used by NWSC to minimize costs and risks involved in water service.
NWSC representatives also visited, shared and explored utility experiences and best practices, capacity building possibilities and collaboration with IHE-Delft, CEOs from Vitens Evides International, Randwater of South Africa, Brazil and Dhaka of Bangladesh.
The engagement closed with a formulation of follow-up steps towards preparations for the next UN Water Conference to be held in New York next year.
