NWSC PARTICIPATES IN THE YOUTH LIBERATION DAY CELEBRATIONS

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) on 26th January 2023 celebrated 37 years of governance, and in conjunction with this, the Liberation Day youth celebrations were organized prior by Youth councils, ghetto structures, and market vendors on January 25th, 2023 in Kampala and the Kololo Ceremonial grounds. 

The event was held under the theme “mzeei tava ku ballot 2026” and was attended by a number of esteemed guests, including the Minister for Kampala, Ms. Minsa Kabanda, and NWSC’s Deputy Managing Director-Finance, Ms. Sylvia Arinaitwe whose entourage consisted of the corporation’s Book Club (Leaders Are Learners (LL) club), Public Relations Officers and more.

In her keynote speech, Ms. Sylvia Arinaitwe emphasized the importance of government development programs, such as the Parish Development Model and Emyooga, as a means of addressing poverty. She also praised President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for creating a stable and secure environment that has allowed the NWSC to grow and expand its operations. “The Corporation has grown significantly over the years, providing piped water to only 5 towns in 1990, compared to the current 263 towns”, she said. On behalf of the corporation, Ms. Arinaitwe also presented a donation of 5 million shillings to assist in empowering youth with valuable skills.

The event was a celebration of the youth’s role in shaping the future of Uganda and the progress made towards a better life for all.
