The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) is on the brink of revolutionizing its training methodology with the impending launch of its pioneering E-Learning System. This cutting-edge initiative, outlined as a major deliverable in NWSC’s current Corporate Plan, is set to redefine how the corporation conducts internal training and extends its services beyond national borders.

Led by Ms. Joyce Bakire, Senior Manager of Training and Capacity Development, and Mr. Ouma Julius, Manager IT, the NWSC team, alongside skilled training facilitators has been diligently working on crafting comprehensive online course materials. This collaborative effort aims to populate the soon-to-be-launched E-Learning System, supervised by Professor Paul Berevu from Makerere University’s College of Education and Distance Learning.

The upcoming milestone sessions, scheduled for Tuesday, December 3rd, 2023, and Thursday, December 7th, 2023, mark the final stages of this transformative project. These sessions, set to take place at IREC, signify the last push before the Directorate of Business and Scientific Services, under the leadership of Senior Director Dr. Rose Kaggwa, officially launches the E-Learning System.

The system’s development, entirely undertaken in-house by NWSC’s dedicated IT team, will herald a new era of efficiency and accessibility. Once live, it will serve as a cornerstone for delivering online training to NWSC staff, significantly reducing the need for extensive travel, thereby curbing associated costs and time constraints.

Furthermore, this groundbreaking innovation will empower NWSC’s External Services Department to provide training services and benchmarking opportunities for international clients, particularly in regions where travel poses safety concerns for their staff.

A noteworthy aspect of this endeavor is the establishment of an E-Learning Multimedia Studio at IREC. This dedicated studio will serve as the hub for all multimedia activities related to NWSC’s E-Learning initiatives, ensuring high-quality and engaging content delivery.

In a statement, Senior Manager T&CD Mrs. Joyce Bakiire expressed enthusiasm about the imminent launch, highlighting the pivotal role this E-Learning System will play in enhancing the corporation’s operational efficiency and global outreach.

The completion and imminent launch of the NWSC E-Learning System is a clear depiction of the corporation’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, providing cutting-edge services and embracing high-end training methodologies in the water and wastewater management sector.
