The National Water and Sewerage Corporation is undisputedly committed to better service, 100% coverage and winning the battle against Non-Revenue water (NRW). This commitment birthed a collaborative effort between the Non-revenue water management team and Water Production Department which in-turn resulted into the creation of the Domestic Customer Meter Field Simulation Testing Facility at Ggaba Water Treatment Plant.

The facility has been set up to undertake studies on the relationship between customer meter efficiency and meter age, with pressure as the moderating variable. Notably, real field conditions normally found at customer premises have been established at the facility and, two testing lines each with a capacity to handle 15 meters at ago have already been established

Received by the Senior Manager Water Production, Eng. Andrew Muhwezi, the Managing Director, Dr. Silver Mugisha called on the facility to review progress as well as evaluate the ongoing construction works of the Ggaba 1 new clarifier process line and sludge treatment facility at Ggaba 3. It is in order to say that

the teams are doing a splendid job as portrayed by the appreciation from Dr Eng. Mugisha who also tasked the team to accelerate implementation and pay detailed attention to validity of results and, consider presenting weekly updates.

Impressively, the team will test 9,350 customer meters this month with an average of 3000 meters per day and the results will be used to further inform Management policy on meter replacements.

The collaborative effort between the Non-Revenue Water Management team and Water Production Department is coordinated by the Kampala Water Region General Manager, Eng. Mahmood Lutaaya.
