The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has embarked on a series of upgrades aimed at enhancing the water supply infrastructure for Mulago Hospital, the largest public hospital in Uganda. Following a comprehensive field inspection at the Mulago booster, a team led by Senior Director Technical Services, Eng. Alex Gisagara; General Manager of Kampala Water, Eng. Mahmood Lutaaya; and Chief Manager Water Supply, Eng. Francis Kateeba returned to the site on June 15, 2024, to initiate the planned improvements.

The team outlined several key initiatives to improve the hospital’s water supply including; an upgrade of the Mulago tank’s inlet and outlet lines, relocation of pipes, and consolidation of meters at the hospital, among other measures.

A significant part of the ongoing work involves earth boring operations, which are set to enhance the hospital’s water supply infrastructure. By strategically excavating and installing new pipelines, NWSC aims to optimize water distribution efficiency and reliability throughout the hospital.

These upgrades are vital for meeting Mulago Hospital’s substantial water demands, which is crucial for maintaining high sanitation standards, facilitating medical procedures, and supporting the daily operations of the various hospital departments.

NWSC is committed to “Water for All”.
