On 20th August 2022, Kansanga Branch on behalf of National Water and Sewerage Corporation joined the Church of Uganda-Kisugu in a “Slum Transformation” Charity walk in Kanyogoga, Yoka and Kasanvu zones in Kisugu.  The communities chosen were identified due to their constant struggle with sanitation challenges such as sanitation facilities and garbage collection.

The Chief walker, and Archbishop of Church of Uganda, Rev. Dr. Steven Kaziimba Mugalu shared that this was the inaugural walk towards the selected communities and appreciated the various teams that joined the church especially for the support and contributions. He thanked the Almighty for enabling the activity to happen.

The Archbishop also appreciated the leadership of the church and other organizations that came together to put faith into action. In a special way His Grace appreciated NWSC and the entire team for the initiative. He thanked the church clergy and Kisugu residents for joining the walk.

While launching a PSP tap and another water point in Kanyogoga and Kasanvu respectively, he appreciated the effort and contribution of NWSC towards changing the lives of such communities.

He reminded the audience that water is for all Christians and non-Christians. “Whenever you take water be reminded that Jesus Christ is the living water that brings life,” His Grace shared.

Notably, the team from NWSC was led by DBSS Dr. Rose Kaggwa together with Branch manager Kansanga- Annet Kukunda.

While launching two water points installed in the community, Dr. Kaggwa appreciated the entire team for working so hard to enable the walk. She preached the NWSC Mantra by assuring the residents that the NWSC mandate is to provide clean water and sewerage services to all. She further explained that PSPs enable customers in such areas to get access to clean water at a cheaper cost with the use of tokens.

Dr. Kaggwa pledged on behalf of NWSC to work with communities and partners through the Branch team to provide water to all areas within the community to further better the lives of the residents, sanitation-wise. She appreciated the branch team of Kansanga for the hard work and requested the customers to always report leakages within the area. The Almighty was on the appreciation list, because with Him, all things are possible.

Other partners that took part in the walk included; Finance trust bank, KCCA, Seroma Ltd, DFCU and many others

Also in attendance were; Bp. Hannington Mutebi, Church Clergy, Justice Canon Dr. Andrew Bashaija and NWSC staff
