NWSC HOSTS UWEWK WALKERS AT THE LUBIGI SEWERAGE TREATMENT PLANT

On Friday 10th March 2023, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation’s Sewerage Services Department hosted the walkers of the NEMSA-Uganda Water and Environment Walk-2023 for an educative session and, participated in the walk as well under the theme; “Walk for Water and Environment for Climate Resilient Development”.

The NWSC-Senior Manager Sewer Services, Eng. James Miiro Maiteki flagged the walkers from Lubigi Sewerage Treatment Plant off to the Parliament where the Rt. Speaker of Parliament then flagged off the walk to the Ministry of Water and Environment in Luzira. 

Organized by the team leader UWEK-2023/NEMSA team/Million Trees International Organization, Mr. Joseph Gokusoka, the Walk is one of many pre-event activities under the Uganda Water and Environment week.

Celebrating Water and the Environment is nothing without planting a tree to secure the future which is why the walkers and NWSC teams planted trees to commemorate UWEWK-2023.

Uganda Water and Environment Week (UWEWK) is a weeklong event that is organized annually by the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) through the Water Resources Institute (WRI). Since its inception in 2018, the event seeks to contribute towards the attainment of Sustainable Socio-economic Transformation and achieving Ugandan National Development Plan and vision 2040. It provides an interface between sector actors and other stakeholders for knowledge exchange, dialoguing, learning for improvement of Uganda’s water and environment resources.

Notably, the chief walker was the exceptional Mr. Geofrey Walker Ayeni .
