Residents of Namisindwa were the focus of discussions during the latest District Council sitting held at Bubutu Town Council grounds, right in front of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation’s (NWSC) area offices. For the first time, the council invited NWSC to present a full service delivery account, giving customers a clear picture of how the corporation is working to meet their daily needs.

Area Manager for Manafwa/Namisindwa, Mr Moses Kisiibo, explained that despite the hurdles of mountain disasters and tight budgets after COVID-19, NWSC has set out immediate, short-term, and long-term plans to keep taps flowing more reliably. He noted that all key government institutions in the district, including Seed secondary schools, health centres, and police stations, are already connected to ensure that essential services for families and communities are not disrupted by water shortages.

“This is about making sure the people of Namisindwa can depend on us for safe and reliable water every day,” Mr Kisiibo told the council.

The update struck a positive chord with leaders and residents alike. Bubulo East MP, Hon. John Musila, praised the local NWSC team for their efforts and encouraged them to remain consistent in serving households and institutions. LC5 Chairperson, Mr Jackson Wakweika, also commended NWSC for working alongside other government initiatives in health and education to uplift community welfare.

The Chief Administrative Officer announced more government investments on the way, such as new judiciary structures and offices for the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, developments that will also require strong water support.

Closing the session, RDC Elijah Madoi said he was optimistic that continued cooperation among all district stakeholders would translate into better services for ordinary people, in line with Uganda’s National Development Plan.

Following the sitting, the customers in Namisindwa appreciated the council’s decision to prioritise water supply enhancement, which meant that their voices were being heard, and NWSC was being held to account for delivering safe, reliable, and affordable water to every household.
