Access to clean safe water makes a significant difference in the livelihood of a community. Which is what the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) is all about, changing and saving lives by providing safe water and sanitation to all Ugandans.

This was witnessed as NWSC commissioned the Ovisoni area water supply system in Arua District.

The system components commissioned include; Okufura Water Production Well, Ovisoni Tank and a new PSP together. It also involved drilling of two water production wells at Okufura (producing 25m3/hr) and Opevu (producing 20m3/hr ).

Note that, Ovisoni area is at a much higher altitude than the placement of the main water supply network, so it required a dedicated water supply sub-system to serve the area, and, impressively, the Ovisoni branch has a pipe transmission network coverage of 32km of water mains of which 7km is the transmission line and 25km, the distribution mains.

Speaking at the event, the NWSC Board Chairman, Dr Eng. Badru Kiggundu echoed the Corporation’s commitment towards excellent water and sewerage services for all Ugandans across the country.

He thanked the people of Ovisoni for being patient and was grateful to the NWSC staff for the hard work put in to extend services to the Ovisoni area.Dr Eng. Kiggundu also urged the consumers to be good and responsible as they use the service and equipment. To the Almighty, he expressed gratitude for blessing the Corporation with this milestone.

At the same event, Dr Eng. Kiggundu commissioned a number of other projects that the Corporation has undertaken to accelerate service delivery and attainment of the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG6) which focuses on access to water and sanitation for all”, a key focus area of the Government of Uganda.

The area registered 250 New Connection applicants, 10 payments and commencement of connections following the commissioning.
