The National Water and Sewerage Corporation has completed major works at Nebbi Water Works.
Nebbi Area Technical team under the headship of the Area Engineer, Kenneth Rukundo and guidance of Area Manager Mr. Geoffrey Mwesigye concluded a major upgrade at the area’s Water Works that will add 1400m3 to the plant improving the daily production from 1000m3/day to 2400m3/day.
The upgrade was a result of an assessment carried out by the area technical team which showed the need to improve plant efficiency through simple quick gain innovations that were cost effective in both technology and capital investment.
The works necessitated synchronizing two high lift pumps to operate as a unit. The 50m3/hr pump and 48m3/hr pump that operated previously as independent units were configured to operate as one leading to an improvement in performance to 80m3/hr. This led to an increase in production from 1100m3/day to 1400m3/day
It also entailed the change in orientation in flow of filtered water from filters to Clear water well. This was done through change of lines from operating in series to operate in parallel feeding clear water tank from two independent entry points. This will add about 1000m3/day leading to an increase in production to 2400m3/day.
The area now is focused on procurement of a new 150m3/hr high lift pump that will be able to accommodate the increase in water production.
Applause to the Area Technical team that put in so much work with Mugaiga Osbert and Onen Richard steering the plumbing wheel. The Static team engaged in electrical with Eng. Bondet steering the team.
The Area extended gratitude towards the NWSC Top Management, Senior Manager Operations, the Regional Engineers and for supporting key innovations and developments in Nebbi.
