MORE ON THE ONGOING SUPPLY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS IN KAMPALA

The launch of the long awaited Katosi project, coupled with feeder projects undertaken by Kampala Water, has resulted in supply improvement in Kyaliwajjala, Mukono, Seeta, Ntinda, and Gayaza branches. Despite the additional supply, some areas are still experiencing intermittent supply due to topographic and infrastructure capacity challenges.

Kampala Water is however undertaking a number of projects to ensure adequate utilization of Katosi supply and ultimate alleviation of dry zones. Some of these projects may include;

The Kyanja Construction of 500cc reservoir at Naguru and laying of 6km DN 300 from Naguru to Kyanja whose expected completion time is September 2021, under Matugga branch, laying of 8km DN300 from Luteete through Kiteezi to Matugga and the expected completion time is also September 2021.

Kungu is witnessing the laying of 4km DN250/150 from Kira police to Kungu set to be completed in August 2021, Gayaza/ Kasangati branch is in the final stages of laying 14km DN350/250 Sonde to Nakwero set to be completed this month, July 2021. Whereas Mukono Zimwe hill is getting an upgraded pump and pumping main from DN100 to DN150whch will be functional by end of July 2021.

Nansana is laying a 7km DN300/250 from Kasubi to Nansana tank via Nansana booster with completions set in November 2021, Bandwe and Nalumunye are completing clipping of DN250/150/100 across Entebbe expressway bridges to ensure reliable supply to the two boosters and records show that it will be complete by end of July 2021.
