In an impressive technical feat, the Ministry of Water and Environment, specifically the Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Services Department, successfully commissioned the Kyenjojo-Katooke Water Supply and Sanitation System in Kyenjojo District.

Implemented under the Strategic Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project (STWSSP), the construction of this vital water supply system was entrusted to M/s Royal Techno Industries Limited-Velko Infratek PPL JV. The project was expertly supervised by M/s Sari Consulting Limited in association with SGAPI, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Funded by the African Development Bank and backed by the Government of Uganda, the Kyenjojo-Katooke water supply system will serve a total of 70 villages in Katooke Sub County, Town Council, and Kyenjojo Town Council. This monumental achievement is set to improve the lives of thousands of residents in the area.

With an estimated initial population of 26,316 in 2020, the water system is projected to meet the needs of a growing community, with a final estimated population of 73,101 by 2040. This forward-thinking approach ensures that the system will continue to serve the needs of the region well into the future.

In a significant milestone, the completed system has now been handed over to the capable hands of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation for operation and maintenance. This guarantees the sustainable and efficient management of the water supply and sanitation system, ensuring its long-term success.

The Kyenjojo-Katooke Water Supply and Sanitation System stands as a testament to the Ministry of Water and Environment’s commitment to providing essential services to communities across Uganda. By improving access to clean water and sanitation, this project will undoubtedly have a transformative impact on the lives of the residents, fostering health, hygiene, and prosperity for generations to come.
