Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection. One of the central themes of Ramadan is kindness and compassion towards those in need. This includes donating to charity, helping the poor and disadvantaged, and showing compassion towards others. The act of fasting itself is seen as a way of cultivating empathy and understanding for those who may not have enough to eat.
Well, Kampala Water’s Kansanga Branch clearly picked up on the true meaning of this Holy month as the branch organized a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at giving back to the Muslim community in Lower Kisugu.
Led by the Branch Manager, Ms. Annette Kukunda, the team gave out items such as fruits, refreshments, rice, soap and other essentials to the community members after Juma prayers on Friday 31st March 2023.
The initiative also involved sensitizing the Muslim community about issues related to National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) including; tariffs, illegal water use, E-bills management, and new connection application.
The Lower Kisugu Muslim community warmly received the outreach program, with the Imam expressing appreciation to NWSC Top Management and KW staff for their gesture. He emphasized that the mosque is an open hub for community planning and development initiatives of NWSC such as; Public StandPipes, infrastructural funds, and community engagements.
CSR initiatives like this not only enhance customer satisfaction, build trust, and enhance the Corporation’s image but also foster long-term relationships with customers.
