KW-SEWER SERVICES DEPARTMENT HONORS COMMITMENT TO NAALYA RESIDENTS

Following the stakeholder engagement carried out in Naalya on 14th March 2023 by the Kampala Water Sewer Services Department in response to complaints against the smell from the Naalya Sewerage Ponds, the Senior Manager-Sewer Services, Eng. James Miiro Maiteki and his team arrived at solutions to the problem and today, they did honor one of the major solutions, “De-sludging”.

Note that by removing the accumulated sludge through de-sludging, the anaerobic conditions are reduced, and the production of foul-smelling gasses is minimized. This can help to improve the overall odor of the sewer ponds and therefore ameliorate the issues of smell in Naalya.

Desludging at Naalya Ponds commenced earlier today under the supervision of Eng. Maiteki and was witnessed by the LC Chairman, Mr. Allan Bulamu.

The exercise will be completed in approximately 4 weeks.

NWSC is committed to Water and Sanitation for All.
