Kampala Water’s Kansanga Branch recently hosted a joint team, characterized by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Manager Security Mr. Tumwine, Col. Robert Kagahe from the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF), and other NWSC representatives to conduct a verification exercise of the Local Defense Unit (LDU) accounts.
The exercise aimed to verify the UPDF Detach connections, including; readings, consumption, usage, ownership, administrators, and responsible authorities for payments, while also providing sensitization on security protocols.
This collaborative effort has established a clear process that promotes effective cooperation, sets guidelines and obligations, addresses arrears, improves coordination, and establishes appropriate communication channels.
By verifying the LDU accounts, the collaboration between the NWSC and UPDF is expected to result in improved account management, efficient debt recovery, and enhanced service delivery. The joint effort will ultimately strengthen the working relationship between the parties involved, which will have a positive impact on the provision of essential services to the community.
This partnership is an excellent example of how different entities can come together to address a common challenge. Such collaborations promote accountability, transparency, and cooperation, which are essential for the sustainable development of communities, something that NWSC is committed to.
