Residents of Kibega in Sanga Sub County can now look forward to reliable access to clean water following the completion of water mains extensions led by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Rushere Area team. The project, finalized on January 15th, 2024 represents a major stride in addressing the water supply challenges faced by the community.

Kenneth Rukundo, NWSC Area Manager for Rushere, described the initiative as a life-changing effort to improve water access for both residents and key stakeholders in the region. Working closely with Sanga Branch Manager Clifford Mukundane and the Area Engineer, the team oversaw the successful trenching and installation of over 1.5 kilometers of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes at a standard depth of three feet.

The extension, which now serves Kibega 1, Kibega 2, and neighboring villages, is a critical milestone in NWSC’s broader strategy to enhance water supply coverage nationwide. “This is not just about providing water but rather about improving lives and building healthier communities,” Rukundo said.

Residents in the affected areas have praised the project, noting its impact on daily life and community well-being. For many, the availability of clean and safe water will ease the burden of traveling long distances to access water, freeing up time for other productive activities.

The water mains extension is part of NWSC’s enduring commitment to its “Water for All” mission, which prioritizes expanding water coverage to underserved regions across the country.
