As an essential component of emergency preparedness, employee and customer safety, and regulatory compliance, Kampala Water (KW) staff attached to the Katosi Drinking Water Treatment Plant recently received first aid and emergency response training.

The training was organized by management in partnership with Herona Hospital in Kisoga and aimed at imparting skills to staff on how to avoid fatalities that mainly happen due to delayed or improper response to victims.

The training included bandaging, first aid for stub wounds, how to use a tourniquet in case of bleeding, demo on AVPU code, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid equipment usage, and more.

The Plant Manager Mr. Joseph Tweheyo and Senior Human Resources Officer Mr. Abu Isabirye arranged the training with the aim of promoting a safe working environment.

The trainees were selected from different work groups who shall then be the first responders to give immediate help to casualties to the respective teams in case of an emergency.

Given that the staff are now equipped with practical skills and knowledge to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, this is a significant step in promoting safety and health management in the workplace.
