
Excitement was in the air as the Kamwenge Woman MP; Hon. Sylvia Bahereira, launched Water Extension works in Bigodi Town Council. The launch which was held in Busimba Village was attended by the Bigodi Town Council leadership, including the Mayor, Speaker, Town Clerk, Chief Development Officer, LC1 Chairman, Councilors and residents.
The first lot of 5KMs of DN50 (2″) pipes is going to serve villages of Busimba, Kahondo, Kibaryatika, Kateretere and Rwengobe. This will be in addition to the Bigodi Water Works that have been completed so far consisting of 15KMs of pipe laid from Kahunge to Kibale Game Reserve, construction of a 150m³ reservoir on Rwengobe hill and construction of a Booster Station in Lyamugonera Village.
In his address, the Area Manager; Joseph Mulinde acknowledged the leaders of Bigodi Town Council for all the support rendered towards this project. Special mentions went out to Hon. Eng. Cuthbert Abigaba (MP Kibale County), Hon. Sylvia Bahereira (Kamwenge Woman MP), Eng. Godfrey Mutabazi (Former ED, UCC), Mr. Elijah Biryabarema (Former Kamwenge & Ntoroko RDC) and the Town Council leadership.
The Area Manager together with the Area Engineer; Patrick Winyi went ahead to sensitize the community about the works done so far and the NWSC Service Model; ranging through the New Connection process and requirements, billing, payments, tariff structures among others.
In her speech, Hon. Sylvia Bahereira thanked the Uganda Gov’t and H.E, Gen. Yoweri K. T. Museveni for working tirelessly in ensuring that water extension programs which are meant to improve livelihoods of Ugandans are implemented. She also thanked the NWSC MD – Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha for the great work of ensuring Bigodi residents get access to clean and safe water. Furthermore, she also thanked the Area team for the enthusiasm revealed towards the Bigodi Water Works Project.
Hon. Sylvia Bahereira advised the Bigodi residents not to sabotage such government projects by putting bottlenecks such as compensations noting that the government invests a lot of money to have these services extended to the people. Thereafter, the team headed for a tour in the various villages that are going to benefit from the first lot of extension works.
