In a heartening display of collaboration and shared commitment to public welfare, the Kamuli District leaders recently played host to the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Board of Directors during their four-day tour of the Central Region. The visit marked a significant moment of synergy between local governance and essential service providers.

Mr. Charles Mugude, the esteemed LCV Chairperson of Kamuli, led the district’s official welcome of the NWSC Board. He expressed genuine appreciation for NWSC’s unwavering dedication in providing impeccable services to Kamuli residents. Mugude passionately emphasized the primacy of service delivery, asserting that public offices exist to serve the public interest. He compellingly underscored the vital importance of clean and safe water as a cornerstone of human survival, stating, “Water is the Key to everything. You cannot survive without water, although one can survive without power.”

With evident pride, Mugude pointed out the pre-existing strong partnership between his team and NWSC. He committed to continuing this collaborative alliance, ensuring consistent and reliable services for the Kamuli Area. Concluding his address, he extended heartfelt gratitude to the NWSC Board for allocating time to visit Kamuli, an act that resonated deeply with the local community.

Ms. Rose Birungi, the dedicated RDC of Kamuli, echoed the sentiments of unity and service excellence. In her remarks, Birungi lauded NWSC’s ethos of prioritizing service above self-interest. She commended the NWSC Board for their proactive engagement with stakeholders and visits to local areas. Birungi shared an intriguing insight into the effective communication mechanisms in place, highlighting a WhatsApp group where water-related issues are promptly addressed. “Your Area Management Team is always so quick to respond to and solve all the issues posted,” she acclaimed. Birungi went further, pledging ongoing support for the Area Management’s community outreach initiatives, including the provision of free radio airtime.

At the helm of the NWSC delegation, Mr. George Runge exuded gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the District leaders. Runge illuminated NWSC’s principled commitment to being a service-driven utility that transcends barriers of color, religion, and political affiliation. He extended a call for collaborative action, urging the district leaders to join forces in combating the rising tide of water infrastructure vandalism. With an earnest appeal, Mr. Runge sought assistance during pipe laying and service extensions, aiming to optimize access to water resources.

Mr. Runge also unveiled a significant need related to land matters. NWSC’s aspiration to secure titles for all its land holdings was met with bureaucratic challenges in some areas. Runge diplomatically called for support from the district’s lands office, underscoring the potential transformative impact of smoother administrative processes.

The NWSC Management’s dedication to progress was unmistakably evident in Mr. Runge’s address. He absorbed the leaders’ constructive feedback with gratitude, reaffirming NWSC’s unwavering commitment to enhancing services. As a resolute stride towards universal access, NWSC is steadfastly working towards achieving 100% coverage across all operational areas. Mr. Runge vowed to rally the collective effort, synergizing with district leadership to extend the life-enabling resource of water to every corner.

The visit showcased a shared vision of excellence, an unyielding commitment to service, and a resolute drive to enrich lives through the gift of clean water.
