The Rotaract Club of Clarke International University hosted Kampala Water’s Senior Legal Officer, Ms. Brownie Ebal with the aim of getting insight into the significance of legal aid clinics.
Kampala Water’s legal aid clinics are staffed by experienced lawyers who provide free legal advice to customers dealing with disputes related to billing, water quality complaints, debt collection, illegal connections, and any other legal matters affiliated to the corporation. The legal aid clinics also work in tandem with various administrative bodies to resolve customer complaints and offenses related to water and sewerage services.
Ms. Ebal made a presentation that explained the implication of legal aid clinics to the corporation’s business growth, rapport with its clients, and the legal provisions that govern NWSC operations. The presentation also highlighted the important role that legal aid clinics play in promoting access to justice and improving service delivery.
The Q&A session following the presentation covered various issues, such as; how to take advantage of the legal aid clinics, the scope of the clinics, and the procedure for new connections. The presentation helped the Rotaract team to better understand NWSC’s operations and how they could work with the Corporation to improve service delivery.
The partnership between KW’s legal department and the Rotaract Club of Clarke International University is an effective way of building rapport with communities, hence building trust and fostering a positive relationship with its customers.
