There is an undeniable commitment to enhance and sustain exceptional performance in the Kampala Water Central Zone (CEZ). After a reflection and strategy meeting last week, the CEZ partners met yet again earlier today to launch a performance enhancement programme dubbed *“Operation Vumbula”*. An initiative aimed at improving staff accountability and transparency.

Under Operation Vvumbula, the branches are to carry out “checking activities” in the field mostly in areas related to staff integrity and accuracy of the meter system. Once implemented, Vvumbula is expected to improve the sale and revenue collection of the Central zone in particular and Kampala Water in general.

The main objective of Operation Vvumbula, is to develop the capacity of branches to have accurate customer information and data integrity in the operation and management of water utility systems and support its performance improvement and commercialization drive. More to this is the need to; improve field staff integrity, have accurate customer information and derails especially on washing bays, large Accounts and suspicious accounts in the zone and, encourage multi-tasking in staff and have a productive work force.

Under Operations Vvumbula the central zone will stretch their performance targets as follows:-Improved Water Sales and Billing. Grow Billing by 03%, response Rate of 70% and improved Collections by 106%.

Speaking to the CEZ Partners, the General Manager Kampala Water, Eng. Mahmood Lutaaya stated, “a programme is only as important and effective as how much belief, excitement and commitment there is to it”.

He expressed his gratitude towards, and belief in the CEZ team. ” Thank you for your commitment and this initiative. I believe that you will fully embrace the opportunities and appreciate each and everyone’s differences”, he said.

Notably, the initiative will be executed for a period of 4 months
