The General Manager of Kampala Water, Eng. Mahmood Lutaaya, presented a cheque worth 5 million shillings to the Ayitah Charity Foundation at the Kampala Water Jinja Road offices, as a contribution to the community Eid celebration held in Kasokoso on April 10, 2024. This event, which was the first of its kind, reached over 700 individuals through communal meal-sharing and various donations.

The Ayitah Charity Foundation, initially established to support vulnerable groups such as orphans, persons with disabilities, unemployed youth, and women, has become a beacon of hope within Kasokoso. With a population exceeding 10,000 residents, a significant portion of whom live in substandard informal settlements, the foundation’s impact resonates deeply within the community.

Ms. Sophie Nyanzi, the founder of Ayitah Charity Foundation, expressed sincere appreciation to the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) for their steadfast support and prompt response to the needs of the Kasokoso community during the Eid celebrations. She highlighted NWSC’s consistent readiness to assist with/in their collaborative efforts on various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, which have significantly benefited numerous communities.

Notably in 2023, NWSC joined forces with the Ayitah Charity Foundation to inaugurate 10 water points in the Kasokoso slums, with plans to install 100 more in different slums around Kampala to promote healthier communities.

Through initiatives such as this donation, which has touched the lives of countless individuals, Kampala Water and the Ayitah Charity Foundation are a true depiction of the power of unity and compassion in enhancing and nurturing community well-being.
