KAMPALA WATER OFFICIALLY EMBRACES THE NWSC TREE-VOLUTION CAMPAIGN

Under the theme “a tree planted, a future granted”, National Water and Sewerage Corporation is championing a greening campaign dubbed “The NWSC Tree-volution” and last weekend witnessed the Kampala Water Region official launch of the campaign in the Shimoni Estate-Mulawa under
Kampala Water’s Kyaliwajjala branch.


The launch was hosted by Shimoni Demonstration School-Kira Municipality where 1000 fruit and shade trees were supplied to the estate thereby meeting them in their effort to have a tree filled community. This was witnessed by the Kira Divisional Mayor, the Deputy mayor Kira municipality Godfrey Nsubuga, the RDC, head teacher Shimoni Demonstration school – Mr. Allan Rugadia and the Estate Chairman.


The “NWSC tree-volution” campaign aims to contribute towards preserving the environment and catchment areas by ensuring sustainable water supply to Ugandans, contributing towards improvement of water quality at water sources hence reducing water treatment costs and addressing the risk of the deteriorating and depleting raw water sources.


National Water’s delegation was led by the Deputy Managing Director-Finance, Ms. Sylvia Alinaitwe coupled with the General Manager Kampala Water, Mr. Mahmood Lutaaya accompanied by the Senior Manager Corporate Communications-Ms. Sarah Namuwenge, Public Relations Manager KW- Vivien Newumbe, the Branch Manager Kyaliwajjala-Ms. Shallon Atukunda, the Kyaliwajjala branch staff as well staff from HQ and KW-Central Office. With partners and a positive approach, the Corporation aims to plant at least 10 million trees with in five years.
