In the pursuit of business expansion and enhanced customer relations, Kampala Water has taken a significant step forward by reinforcing its partnership with Hariss International Limited. This strategic collaboration, aimed at fostering growth and ensuring customer satisfaction, holds the potential to redefine the landscape of water supply and beverage production in Uganda.

As Kampala Water (KW) sets its sights on augmenting its sales figures, the preservation of customer interests and a responsive approach to feedback emerge as cornerstones of success. In a proactive stride towards nurturing enduring customer relationships, the General Manager of Kampala Water, Eng. Mahmood Lutaaya, accompanied by the Senior Manager of Water Supply, Eng. Francis Kateeba, recently convened at the newly inaugurated Hariss International Limited plant in Kawempe Division. This rendezvous aims to cultivate a mutual sense of confidence in the quality of services provided.

A noteworthy player in Uganda’s beverage industry, Hariss International Limited stands tall as one of the top three soda manufacturers, contributing a substantial 150 billion shillings in tax revenue. The chairman of the board of directors, Mr. Yasser K Ahmed, attests to this accomplishment. Beyond soda, Hariss International Limited boasts a diverse array of high-quality food and confectionery products.

Eng. Lutaaya commenced the discourse by highlighting the corporation’s tailored initiatives to combat water scarcity. The establishment of the Katosi Drinking Water Treatment Plant in Mukono stands as a testament to KW’s commitment to augmenting supply and addressing scarcity issues in the Kampala metropolitan area. Furthermore, the consideration of network reconfiguration to meet surging water demands from the burgeoning population speaks volumes of their strategic vision.

Subsequently, Hariss’s Plant Manager, Ms. Elsabe Jean Van Biljon, illuminated the intricacies of their beverage production process, underlining the staggering requirement of 1.4 million cubic liters of water daily to produce approximately 20 million liters of beverages monthly. Addressing the perennial challenge of water scarcity, Ms. Van Biljon accentuated the significance of seizing sales opportunities during the peak seasons of September, October, and November.

The engaged audience, comprising attentive representatives from both parties, responded promptly to these observations. “Your status as a valued multibillion company necessitates our unwavering commitment to your needs. We currently supply water through the Kanyanya booster and an alternative line from Bombo road, amounting to a monthly billing of 90M to 100M. The team is dedicated to comprehensively addressing water scarcity concerns and devising effective solutions,” affirmed Eng. Lutaaya.

This essential moment prompted him to entrust the Water Supply Department and Branch Engineer with a comprehensive assessment of the distribution system. Their task includes compiling an exhaustive report delineating both short-term and long-term challenges and their corresponding solutions. This endeavor is slated for completion by the end of the business week, reflecting the urgency and commitment to resolution.

Eng. Lutaaya’s fervent pursuit of business growth accentuated the importance of constructing a water reservoir atop Kanyanya Hill. This strategic endeavor aims to ensure uninterrupted supply to the Hariss International Limited plant, thereby contributing to the corporation’s financial inclusivity.

“Listening to customer complaints is integral to business success; adeptly handled, it can lead to positive outcomes. After conducting on-field investigations, we are poised to formulate an integrated strategy to tackle the identified issues,” emphasized Eng. Kateeba.

This gathering witnessed the presence of esteemed individuals, including Network Manager-Western Zone Moses Nandigobe, Branch Engineer Fahad Kasozi, CA Reginah Akidi, and Mahdi Mshaimesh, the Financial Officer at Hariss International Limited.

Together, Kampala Water and Hariss International Limited are weaving a narrative of partnership that transcends the mere exchange of services. It exemplifies a shared commitment to growth, quality, and addressing the needs of the customers.
