Kakumiro Area, established in January 2023, has celebrated a year of remarkable achievements under the adept leadership of Area Manager, Tumuhairwe Godfrey. Within this brief period, the area has witnessed substantial development across various sectors, projecting a significant stride towards its envisioned prosperity.

One of the notable achievements is the expansion of urban centers within the area. From initially comprising four towns, Kakumiro Area now boasts a total of seven vibrant urban hubs. Accompanying this urban growth is the proliferation of villages, which have increased from 43 to 54, contributing to the overall socio-economic landscape of the region.

More so, the enhancement of infrastructure has been a focal point of the area’s development agenda. The number of connections has surged from 1077 to 1410, reflecting an increased access to essential services among the populace. Additionally, the network length has expanded from 78km to 96km, facilitating better connectivity and efficiency in service delivery.

Financially, Kakumiro Area has demonstrated commendable performance, with an average monthly billing of 41 million and collections totaling 36 million. This financial stability underscores the effective management practices implemented under Tumuhairwe Godfrey’s stewardship, ensuring sustainable operations and service provision.

Despite these achievements, the journey towards comprehensive development continues, as evidenced by ongoing projects aimed at further improving water supply and production rates. Notably, the drilling of two additional boreholes in Kisiita and Kakumiro town councils signifies a commitment to expanding access to clean water, a fundamental necessity for community well-being.

Remarkably, a groundbreaking initiative is underway with the construction of a state-of-the-art Water Treatment Plant at River Nkusi.

At the heart of Kakumiro Area’s success lies a dedicated team of 17 staff members whose commitment and diligence have propelled the area towards its goals. With a rather impressive productivity ratio of 1:2, these individuals exemplify the spirit of teamwork and professionalism, driving the area’s progress amidst challenges.

With a solid foundation laid and ambitious projects underway, the future holds promise for even greater achievements, shaping Kakumiro Area into a model of sustainable development for years to come.
