KACHUNG DOKOLO WATER PIPELINE PROJECT TO ALLEVIATE WATER WOES IN DOKOLO

The Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Water and Environment under the Strategic Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project (STWSSP) is constructing a 16 billion Project aiming to improve water production and Sanitation Services in Dokolo Town Council and Agwata Sub Counties.

The Dokolo Water Supply and Sanitation System which began in 2020 is to be implemented by NWSC under which project, water shall be pumped from NWSC Lira Water Treatment Plant intake on Lake Kwania at Kachung a distance of 36km up to Dokolo Town Council and a booster station pump shall be installed at Adwoki Trading Centre to increase the water pressure.

The system components include; 3 surface water pumps each with 102m3/hr, 3 booster pumps, each of 84m3/hr located in Adwoki, 150 KVA transformer and 150KVA generator at Kachung Water Treatment Plant, a 150KVA transformer at Adwoki Booster as well as a 15OKVA generator at Adwoki Booster, a 300m3 steel tank on a 15m high steel tower, 1 Booster station and, 1
Guard/Operator House.

The water system project which was contracted to Zhongmei Engineering Group Limited is now at 70% completion status and the remaining 30% to be completed in the next 5 months.
