The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Kwapa-Magodes Branch, led by Branch Manager Mr. Arima Isa, has made significant strides in improving water service delivery to the community. The branch has made notable progress in increasing household connections, extending access to clean water to more families. As of February 24, 2024, the branch has facilitated over 80 new connections, reaching a total of 1,566 households. This marks a 25% increase from the previous year, reflecting the branch’s dedication to widening water coverage. Moreover, the establishment of pro-poor water services, such as Public Stand Pipes (PSPs), has extended reliable water access to vulnerable communities.

Through strategic measures, the branch has boosted water supply stability, resulting in a significant decrease in shortages and interruptions. Initiatives like installing air release valves, upgrading existing infrastructure, and implementing a robust maintenance regimen have contributed to this achievement. Consequently, the community now enjoys an average of 16 hours of water availability daily, ensuring more consistent access to this essential resource.

The branch remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering clean and safe water to the community. The branch upholds stringent water quality standards, with all samples meeting national requirements. This accomplishment is attributed to a comprehensive water treatment program, regular monitoring of water quality, and swift responses to any issues detected.

Effective partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders, including local government, community leaders, and private sector entities, have been instrumental for the Kwapa-Magodes Branch team. These alliances have facilitated the institution’s mandate of providing “water for all,” ensuring that even the most underserved communities receive water services efficiently, and reliably.

Recommendations are; Expand household connections further to reach more families, implement additional measures to bolster water supply stability, Sustain the high standard of water quality through continual monitoring and treatment, and Strengthen partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of water services.

This comprehensive approach ensures that NWSC Kwapa-Magodes Branch continues to fulfill its mandate and positively impact the lives of the community it serves.
