Mr. Wadela Sadala, the RDC Iganga, restated his commitment to assist the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in the fight against vandalism of distribution network pipes and fittings.

This follows a recent event in which the Town was without water for four days due to pipe damage and theft. He pointed out that unscrupulous scrap sellers are the primary cause of this new vice.

The RDC made these statements while hosting Eng. Moses Bigabwa, the Senior Manager Operations-Central Region and his entourage. He stated that the District has joined up with Iganga Police to combat pipe vandalism.

“The police have decided not to release such culprits on bond so that the remainder can learn from it”, stated Mr. Wadela.

He made known that Iganga does not have enough water and that the District cannot afford to waste it. He also confirmed that they are conducting numerous community interactions and sentencing in Iganga with the aim of influencing people’s opinions. Mr. Wadela urged the NWSC Iganga Office to work with the District on these sensitization drives.

“We will not rest until all of the perpetrators are brought to justice,” he said.

He finished by proposing that NWSC enhance water supplies to Iganga, citing the Area’s rapid growth in recent years. He stated that NWSC prioritizes interactions with important stakeholders in order to better understand how to serve them.

“Stakeholder feedback is critical in service delivery.

Eng. Bigabwa, who was accompanied by the region’s Principal Regional Engineer Central, Joseph Kikoyo, Senior PRO Central, Cream Ninsiima, and Iganga Area Manager Moses Aluonzi and Engineer Abaho Allan, praised the District leadership for bolstering NWSC’s efforts to halt system vandalism.

He continued by outlining some of the initiatives NWSC is implementing to improve service delivery in Iganga.

In his communication, the SMOPs-Central commended the District leadership for its assistance to NWSC in a bid to foster service delivery in Iganga.

NWSC remains committed to Water for All, for a delighted customer by a delighted workforce.
